Today is a BIG day!! FIRST JOB OFFER!!

Since my last post... (AND A LONG ONE!!)

The weekend of the Maryland game:

-- I went to the Sigma Nu Alumni Dinner Friday Night in Greenville. It was so much fun. I got to meet a lot of older Alumni, hang out with my Sigma Nu friends, and dance and shag. It was great, then we went downtown of course, which is ALWAYS crazy packed on Gameday weekends! (@LooseChange)
--meanwhile the family was in Charleston celebrating Linn's birthday dinner at Circa (a little jealous)

Here are some pics from the EN Alumni Dinner:

--Maryland game, WON 31-7. So much fun. Lower Deck Seats with EX Fraternity.

Sigma Chi Derby Days:
(ah-hem, my FAVORITE Philanthropic event of the year!) And reigning Derby Days QUEEN 2009!
--ADPi won the Banner Competition Sunday night.
--Monday--Derby Chase (where all the sororities chase the Sigma Chi boys from the Botanical Gardens to the Tiger at Littlejohn Coliseum)
  --Tuesday: Bowling (I'm not sure
  --Wednesday: Karaoke (ADPi got 5th)
--Thursday: Lee Brice/ Love and Theft Concert
--Friday: Dance Competition (ADPi got 3rd)

Overall, ADPi got 3rd in Derby Days this year.
We all know I was a little sad, but it IS unusual for a sorority to win two years in a row. And, let's be honest, I'm a little intense. So, it was probably really hard for this years chairs to live up to my scary intensity and motivation.

Thursday : Instead of going to the concert, I went to dinner with my friend Taylor and his parents at Blue Heron, which was SUCH a treat. His mom is from Charleston and we had LOADS to talk about!! Such a great family!
--then I went to a small Pi Kappa Phi (dad!) party! and downtown!

Friday :  UTi interview in Greenville.

Saturday : GA Tech VICTORY! 27-13. Upper Deck seats, but still awesome!! Finally a win, you all remember the GA Tech game last year in ATL. I went down with Betas and it was so fun, except for when we lost. Clemson was on SportCenter for a fan that got really angry about losing...Clemson Fan Upset at Loss

Here are pictures from GA Tech:

Monday : Lunch interview with Insight Global at Seasons 52 in Atlanta with the Managers of the ATL office. Insight Global website

Tuesday (today) : Insight offered me the JOB! My very first JOB OFFER!!! AHH!!!

I have TWO WEEKS to accept. We will see!!! I have another interview with M.C. Dean in Charleston on Friday.

This week will be FULL of studying!!!
Loads of things due on Thursday!!

I love you all. I hope you enjoyed this LONG post.

quickie

quick update.

1) Weekend:

Sigma Chi mountain weekend was a BLAST!!! (That's a complete understatement, but I don't know how else to describe it). It might have topped all of the previous four mountain weekends I've been on!

2) Clemson:

I am disappointed that Clemson's football team is NOT doing as well as I'd hoped for my LAST semester. (At least I can still cheer Auburn on! War Eagle!)...And only 44 days until the Clemson v. Carolina game, where CLEMSON BETTER BE VICTORIOUS (just sayin')!!

But, I LOVE FALL in Clemson. It is absolutely stunning, breathtaking, incredible!

3) Interviews/Jobs:

   a) I had a GREAT lunch interview with Kieran at Interconex (one of the companies that would move me to Germany) in Greenville at High Cotton. An absolutely great interview with 3 courses! Who gets to start off their Friday's like that every week?

   b) I cancelled my second interview with Target. I just don't see myself there. Loved them, my interviewers, but it just didn't fit right.

   c) I am still waiting on scheduling a face-to-face with the other company (M.C. Dean) that would put me in Germany, probably interviewing in Charleston for Fall Break.

   d) I have an interview with UTi in Greenville a week from Friday!

   e) I have a second/lunch interview with Insight Global (IT staffing firm) the week before Fall Break in Atlanta, but tomorrow night I'm meeting up with the corporate recruiter in Clemson to get a few drinks and show him around downtown Clemson.

PHEW! I love interviewing and meeting people and networking! But man, this is exhausting! I've had one interview a week for 8 straight weeks now and it keeps going, which is GREAT!
I have to say, I am so BLESSED and THANKFUL for all of the help, advice, opportunities, referrals, recommendations, and offers. It has just been wonderful and SO encouraging.
Everyone knows I like to have a plan and I'd like to have a job offer signed/sealed/delivered at Thanksgiving/first week of December! Wouldn't that just be FAB?
For real, just think about this for a second, I could have a SIGNED JOB OFFER in 3-5 WEEKS! That is absolutely incredible to me.

4) Training is HARD! And I am behind schedule. 30 days left. Yikes! "Step it up, Widman!" (I need Coach Slepetz, Coach Bailey, or Franny to whip me straight!)

5) Classes are challenging. Especially when on my free days I'm interviewing and travelling which pretty much consumes my whole day.

I'm hoping for all As and a B...Hence why I'm spending some late nights in Cooper Library.

6) I love my friends. I miss my Charleston friends, I miss my old roommates, I miss my old PiPi sisters, but I am so blessed because we ALL keep in touch. I can't wait to see everyone again.

I know I will CRY at graduation. All the fifth years leaving. Leaving all my Sigma Chi boys. 4 1/2 years worth of great friendships. Whoa! Done talking about this. Can't cry typing. Need to study. Phew!

Me and Sigma Chis. Some fifth years.

Goodnight blogger world. Wish me luck on tests and interviews!

God bless,

I like it...

Tonight, I was in a "motivating-myself" mood.
I wanted great quotes that inspire me to go for my goals, my hopes, my dreams.
To find a job that I love, to move to a place that I love...
and to succeed.
To be the businesswoman I've always hoped I'd be.

So here are quotes that just totally made my night.
I hope you like them.
:)

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” ~Miriam Beard
(I love this for my "travel bug")

"Hire character. Train skill."  ~Peter Schutz
(This epitomizes me. And what I hope to show in interviews)

"To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart." ~Thomas Watson, Sr.
(Heart. I love heart. Heart in sports. Heart in friendships.
Love.  Schoolwork. Heart in Clemson. Heart in anything you do.)

"A leader leads by example, whether he intends to or not."  ~Unknown

"Leaders need to be optimists.  Their vision is beyond the present." ~Rudy Giuliani

"Leadership is based on a spiritual quality; the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow." ~Vince Lombardi
(Oh, Vince. The power to inspire. I love it)

“Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can't be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people.”
~Lee Iacocca

"If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person's point of view and see things from that person's angle as well as from your own." ~Henry Ford

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can;and wisdom to know the difference."
~Reinhold Niebuhr
(This man was my grandfather's minister.
Yes, that's right, my Grandpa KNEW this man--Awesome Sauce)

"Failure is the opportunity to begin again, more intelligently." ~Henry Ford

"Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning." ~Bill Gates

“The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it.” ~Franklin P. Jones
(This reminded me of Dad.)

“To move ahead you need to believe in yourself...have conviction in your beliefs and the confidence to execute those beliefs.” ~Adlin Sinclair
(This reminds me of Mom.)

“Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that says, ''Make me feel important.'' Not only will you succeed in sales, you will succeed in life.” ~Mary Kay Ash
(So true.)

SIDENOTE: I LOVE Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October).
Last year, women on Facebook, put the color of their bra on their FB status.
This year, for Breast Cancer Awareness, women are posting where they like to put their purse.
i.e. I like it on the floor. I like it on the table. I like it in the kitchen.
It's HILARIOUS! And a great community thing for us women all to know, in secret.
(For my Aunt Linda)

Goodnight.

All my love,
K

In preparation for the weekend...

1) This weekend is Sigma Chi mountain weekend!!!

Yea, yea, I know. I am a FIFTH YEAR SENIOR going to Mountain Weekend. Whoa-I am OLD!
Hahaha! But then again, I am EX Derby Queen ;) so I def should go. bahah, jk.

Anyways, since I'm not making a cooler for my date this year (Sorry Neal!! a "super senior" from New Orleans), I will post my MOST FAVORITE COOLER EVER! (that I painted for Hunter my sophomore year).

Top: Southern Comfort Bottle Label
Front: EX's mtn wknd t-shirt design for that year.
The cupholders : his monogram

South Carolina State Flag

Sigma Chi's Crest
"in hoc signo vinces" --in this sign you will conquer

This year, we are going to Camp Wayfarer...around Boone, NC.
Aka, we're "roughing it"
Usually, Sigma Chi goes to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN

2) This is going to be a pretty easy week. Just quizzes and lots of reading.
I have a 4.0 drop-in reception at President Barker's House Wednesday night! I always like going there, I'll try to take some pictures.
And I also have to decide what honor societies I want on my Clemson Graduation Honor Stole! Yikes! And order Graduation announcements. Big MOVES this week!!

3) Friday afternoon, I have a lunch interview with Interconex (company website)--for y'all to research (ah-hem, Mom and Dad).
This is the company that would put me in Frankfurt/Stuttgart. They do some work with Jim Condon (little Jim's company: DRS Technologies, company website)

4) duh duh duh....MOM is coming to CLEMSON on SUNDAY!!! after I get back from EX Mtn Wknd!! I am so excited. SO excited. Like WHOA!
Mom is staying with me! I'm hoping I can take her to Clemson Sushi Bar, where Burns works for sushi and vino.
Also, Mom and I are going to go SHOPPING! (Greenville/Atlanta?) Hoping to find warmer clothes for jobs that I will most likely be taking--colder than SC. And maybe a suit? I don't have much luck with shopping, so hopefully that will be great. And she'll be leaving Tuesday-ish.

Just a preview of what is going on this week.

I love you all! And I hope you know, I wouldn't be able to do any of these awesome things if it weren't for YOU ALL! I wouldn't have all these interviews and second interviews if it weren't for the way I was raised! I am SO blessed! SO blessed! Hopefully I will have a least 2-3 options to choose from. I love all the fun I'm having this semester and I am so thankful that I get to have an extra semester here at my most favorite place in the world. Whoa! I can't even describe it to y'all! I wouldn't be who I am today without each and every one of you, family and friends, nor would I be who I am today without all the people I've met and experiences I've had in this wonderful place called CLEMSON!

my blood runneth orange,

And a few pictures from the Miami game! (Even though we made stupid mistakes and LOST, ugh!, it was an awesome game!!)
I'm pretty sure it sold out, and if not, it was definitely close.
As you all know, I normally sit on the Sigma Chi block, but this game, I went in with a friend right after Kickoff, and we asked random people for their ticket.
Walked right in, had GREAT SEATS! Section A! Lower Deck!
Not to mention, it was beautifully full of Orange Clemson fans, packed stadium, and BEAUTIFUL WEATHER!!

Here are some from the weekend below.

It was fabulous having Miss Polly Lindon stay with me!!!!! I hope she comes down to Charleston for Thanksgiving! And for another football game. She traveled all the way from D.C. One of my best friends of all time. The best!
I got to see my old roomies! Ashley Rigter and Logan Szubski!! We actually got to hang out some Saturday night!
And I got to see Julia!! It was soo great, although brief ;)

I loved having everyone in town this weekend! So much FUN!

Seriously, may have been my most favorite home game of ALL TIME! (would've definitely made #1 if we had won).

CLEMSON. IS. BEAUTIFUL.
I went for a 6 mile run today. An hour right around sunset.
Here are some pictures along my run on the dikes.
