Thoughts:

~~I can't wait for this weekend's game against Miami. Noon game!!!
EVERYONE is coming into town, seriously, everyone!
(Including Polly, Logan, and Julia and I'm SO excited)!

~~Friday morning interview with Capgemini, wish me luck and pray for me as I prepare for that!

~~Also, I forgot to mention, my family and I are competing in a 1/2 Ironman in November. (the weekend of the FSU away game).

I'm doing the 1/2 Ironman relay. Michelle is swimming 1.2 miles, then Linn is biking 56 miles, and I am running the 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles). Dad is doing the whole thing!

Training is going slow. As most of you know I was a sprinter in high school (100m, 200m, 110m hurdles, etc). I did NOT run long distance. This is the first time EVER, I've run more than 3-4 miles. Not only is it difficult for me to find time, manage school and all these interviews and time for FUN, but actually running long distance is hard for me, the HILLS in Clemson kill me. I'm used to running in nice, flat, breezy Charleston, not here. But, I am SO thankful it's gotten cooler here (at least this week), so I'll be running *hopefully* 6 miles in the morning!

And with that, I'm out.

Goodnight, sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite.

and the photo journal begins...

The beginning of my photo journal
so Lauren can familiarize herself with Clemson
and MY FAVORITE PLACES!

Tillman Hall
The field in front is called Bowman Field...right now its covered with a Habitat for Humanity house that we build during Homecoming Week, as well as Fraternity floats!
Samford Hall
Lauren and I in Auburn 2009

If you're in Clemson and lost, you'll probably be able to hear the bells, see the tower and the field, and some really awesome Clemson student/alumni/teacher will help you find your way. PLUS, I live like 5 minutes from Tillman downtown.

Here are a few memories/favorite places:

Me in front of my apartment downtown Clemson

Death Valley
Upper Deck. Memorial Stadium.
Frank Howard Field.

Clemson's Amphitheater
(its really close to Bowman and Tillman Hall)
This is the night that ADPi won Sigma Chi Derby Days
and I won Derby Queen 2009

Not that you can really tell, but here are some "social" places:

ADPi Christmas Cocktail with my date, Garrett
at 356. (its a great bar and sushi restaurant)

Devyn and I at Monterreys. (cheap mexican place)

Burns and Kyle at TTT (Tiger Town Tavern)
Everyone gets their "21" t-shirts here on their b-day
It's arguably the "most famous bar" in Clemson

Me with some of my favorite Sigma Chis at Loose Change
"the fratty bar"
and ALL my favorite memories
people either think I work here because I am here all the time OR
they think I look like Ali, who does actually work there

And Sigma Chi related places:

The former "little sisters" of Sigma Chi
at the Sigma Chi House
(Amy, Devyn, Stephanie, Kelly, Kellie, Laura, Sam, Beth, Me)

Me and some of the Sigma Chi boys
on the roof of the Sigma Chi Lake House
(this is where we do the slip n slides, one of my favorite things)

Sigma Chi House
(Margaret, Devyn, Eric and myself)

That's all for now y'all.

Lauren--memorize these places because they have been my LIFE for 4 1/2 years and the best memories of my life.

<3 you all.

inherited traits

My grandfather and father passed down some wonderful traits and habits down to me.

Grandpa always used to do Pro/Con lists. (which no doubt, I will be doing when I have to decide which jobs I like, etc before Graduation).

So I thought I'd do one for the weekend:

Pros:
--USMC Mud Run on Saturday in Columbia with my family was awesome! Mud, family, laughs, running, obstacles. My team was Cameron, Michelle, Pete and myself. We finished in 1hr 32mins, beating the other Modus21 teams. (that's my competitive nature coming out--something I also inherited).
--I went home after the Mud Run to Charleston. Had dinner with Mom, Jim, and Cameron Saturday night AND got to see my best friends from Ashley Hall, Medley, Madeline and Ellen (minus Madden and Suzanne). I also got to see some old boy EXs which is always fun. And went to my step-brothers' bar Big Johns on East Bay.
--Slept in AND had an afternoon nap, along with a great breakfast cooked by Mom.
--Got to see my dog, Rosie.
--Dinner at Dads house on Isle of Palms with the fam.
--Safe drive to Clemson and to Atlanta
--An awesome interview in Atlanta for Insight Global, where I got to see Allie Quirk and meet all her co-workers AND secure a second interview with them!!! whoop whoop!!
--Second interview with M.C. Dean in Charleston is working on being scheduled!! woohoo!!

Cons:
--During the Mud Run, Pete hurt his back, Michelle got all scraped up and bloody, I whacked Cameron in the face and cut her, and Cameron kicked me in the face and popped out my jaw. Owie.
--Mud Run traffic. Boo.
--Driving and gas $$. Boo.
--The really bad weather. Thunderstorms and rain, which left me in Charleston for another night and made my drives a little longer than planned.
--Total 8 hours + driven today.
--I hit over 98,000 miles on my 4runner today. Whoa.
--Atlanta 5 o'clock traffic. Boo.
--I didn't get home until 730pm, which is when I had to start studying.
--International Economics exam tomorrow at 330pm. Booo.
--I am EXHAUSTED.
--No workout in today.

That's the gist of the weekend.

Ps--I think about my Grandpa a lot during this interview/job search process. He was the sweetest, kindest, humble, and successful man ever! I could only hope to be 1/1000th of what he was. Seriously. Awesome. When I decided to make the switch out of architecture (that I'd been doing for 2 1/2 years) into Business, Grandpa was SO encouraging. He knew I could do it. He knew I'd make something of myself. And I know he'd be so proud of me with what I'm doing and these interviews. Sometimes I wish I could just share it with him. He'd say "I'm so proud of you! I knew you could do it! Have a lot of great days! And do your best on every test"! (Seriously y'all. Best man ever)

Pss--I also started singing his infamous "John Rebeck" song during the Mud Run--I think he got a kick out of that. Ha! (that is until Cameron made me stop singing and other people were looking at me funny!)

Anyways, my posts will probably be really random.

I guess I'm really posting for my family, to keep up with things, especially Lauren in the DR since we don't get to talk that much.

I'll be working on this Clemson photo journal as soon as I get iPhoto back on my Mac.

Have a lot of great days!
Do your best on every test!

Goodnight!

the better sister. me. and reason for blogging.

So, here we go. My VERY FIRST BLOG POST! Yikes.

First of all, I'd like to say I probably won't be any good at this. So feel free to NEVER read this again.
I'll be constantly improving and working on this in an attempt to tell everyone what's going on.

Secondly, the reason I decided to start this blog is.....my sister, Lauren. As most of you know, she's a missionary in the Dominican Republic (www.laurenwidman.blogspot.com).

I've been wanting to start one for a while, but didn't have anything to write about, so I thought. I'll be doing my best to write about my last semester of Clemson. Job interviews. Job searching. FOOTBALL! Friends. Family. Exams. and anything else that I deem acceptable to post....

So this first post, is a tribute to myself (as the better sister) and my awesome school. Lauren has NEVER been to Clemson. NEVER. Her little sisters pride and joy of a college. My favorite place in the world. The light in my eyes, no seriously though, Clemson is the best. And my older (loving-ha!) sister has never been here. I, on the other hand, have been to her Alma Mater Auburn, well, about 6 or so times....Now, who's the better sister?

Hence, the first post.

I will be doing a photo journal of Clemson. Clemson people. Clemson football. Clemson fun. Clemson bars. Clemson friends. Clemson buildings. MY LIFE as a graduating Clemson student.

And as you all know. Clemson is my life.
Clemson FOOTBALL is my life.

Here is my claim to fame.

Sophomore Year. Clemson v. Florida State. 9:49 1st quarter. ESPN.

This will start it out. But I plan on trying to show Lauren Clemson through my eyes. (Ps- I am in NO WAY a photographer, so bear with me.)

I'll try and document my favorite places, memories, bars, tailgating, buildings, people...
So I can prepare Lauren for the MOST AWESOME EXPERIENCE of her life that WILL BLOW HER MIND when she comes to visit for my graduation!!

Lauren--Auburn with a lake. BUT BETTER! Ha!

Oh and I'll try to keep them short.

Comment all you want.

Thanks for reading.
